POP

Pop, referring to carbonated beverages (soda), dates back to at least 1812.
An 1812 letter from poet Robert Southey speaks of:
"a new manufactory of a nectar, between soda-water and ginger-beer, called pop, because 'pop goes the cork' when it is drawn."
