	Spiced Cookies "The Settlement Cookbook" (1903 edition) THE WAY TO A MAN'S HEART Under the Auspices of "The Settlement" (The Milwaukee Settlement House) Spiced Cookies No. 1 5 whole eggs 1 lb. brown sugar 2 teaspoons cinnamon 1 teaspoon ground cloves 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 teaspoon ginger 1 teaspoon baking soda Flour to roll Mix the above together, add enough flour to handle it, roll it into small balls and bake on greased pans. Spiced Cookies No. 2 1/2 cup butter 2 cups brown sugar 4 eggs 1 teaspoon each of cloves and cinnamon 4 cups flour 2 teaspoons baking powder Cream butter and sugar, add the eggs beaten slightly one at a time, then flour. Roll out and bake as the above cookies. dessert spiced cookies
