4 medium fresh tomatoes5-6 fresh basil leaves, chopped2 tablespoons vegetable oil3 tablespoons wine vinegarsalt and pepper to tasteCut the tomatoes in thin wedges or slices and spread them out in a wide, shallow bowl. Combine remaining ingredients and sprinkle over tomatoes. Baste the tomatoes with the dressing by tilting the dish and spooning it over the tomatoes repeatedly. Marinate 20-30 minutes before serving.
