BONIATOsweet potatoes

Boniato (Ipomoea batatas) or Cuban sweet potato is a variety of sweet potato with white flesh rather than the yellow or orange flesh of other varieties.  They tend to be irregular in shape, and skin color can vary from reddish to cream colored. They are drier and not as sweet as other varieties of sweet potato.

Boniato have a nutty flavor sometimes likened to chestnuts. They are popular throughout the Caribbean and South America. They have also become an important commercial crop in Florida with the increasing population of the Cuban-Latin community in South Florida.
