Anise Cookies

"The Settlement Cookbook" (1903 edition)
THE WAY TO A MAN'S HEART

Anise Cookies No. 1

7 whole eggs
1 lb. powdered sugar
1 lb. flour
Anise to taste

Stand the dish in hot water while stirring the eggs and sugar together;  add the flour, which has been slightly dried, anise seed last, and bake on floured tins.


Anise Cookies No. 2

6 eggs
1 lb. powdered sugar

Stir three-fourths hour, add one pound flour and stir one-fourth hour.

Then add three cents' worth of anise seeds.

Drop on buttered tins with teaspoon.

Then place in a cool place until next morning, and bake in slow oven
