GINGER SNAPS

Fix-it And Enjoy-it Cookbook

Makes 3 dozen cookies
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Baking Time: 15 minutes per sheet



Ingredients
• 3/4 cup solid shortening
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 egg
• 1/4 cup molasses
• 2 cups flour
• 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
• 3/4 tsp. allspice
• 1 tsp. cinnamon
• 1 tsp. ginger
• sugar


Directions
1.
In an electric mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugar together. Add unbeaten egg and molasses. Beat until smooth.

2. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, allspice, cinnamon, and ginger. Gradually add to creamed mixture. Mix well.

3. Roll into 1" balls. Roll in sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheets.

4. Bake at 350° for 15 minutes.

Variation: Instead of allspice, use 3/4-1 tsp. ground cloves.
