HUMMUS

Hummus (also spelled hoummos, homus and humus) is a Middle Eastern dip made of pureed chickpeas (garbanzo beans) garlic, and sesame oil or sesame paste (tahini). Sometimes olive oil is used instead of sesame oil, frequently lemon juice is added.  More properly known as 'hummus bi tahini', especially when sesame paste is used.
