APPLESAUCE MEATBALLS

Makes: 6 Main-Dish Servings
Prep Time: 40 Minutes
Cooking Time: 4-6 Hours
Ideal Slow Cooker Size: 3-Quart


Ingredients

    ¾ lb. ground beef
    ¼ lb. ground pork
    1 egg
    ¾ cup soft bread crumbs
    ½ cup unsweetened applesauce
    ¾ tsp.salt
    ¼ tsp. pepper
    oil
    ¼ cup ketchup
    ¼ cup water


Directions

1. Combine beef, pork, egg, bread crumbs, applesauce, salt, and pepper. Form into 1½ inch balls.

2. Brown in oil in batches in skillet. Transfer meat to slow cooker, reserving drippings.

3. Combine ketchup and water and pour into skillet. Stir up browned drippings and mix well. Spoon over meatballs.

4. Cover. Cook on Low 4-6 hours.

5. Serve with steamed rice and green salad.
