ACHIOTE

Achiote is Spanish for annatto seed. Virtually tasteless, they are used as food coloring (similar to turmeric).

Achiote is also the name for a Mexican paste of ground annatto seeds, black pepper and other spices blended with the juice of Seville oranges (bitter oranges).
