JUG, JUGGED
To jug or jugged means to stew for a long time in a tightly covered container, as in Jugged Hare. Usually cooked in a stoneware or earthenware jug or casserole, some of the animal's blood is sometimes added to the cooking liquid. Jugged Hare is usually marinated and cooked with red wine and juniper berries.
