SEA BASS TRIVIA & FACTS
Most Black Sea Bass (Centropristis striata) are hermaphrodites, functioning first as females and then as males. This sex reversal may not occur in all fish, and the absence of large males may induce some large females to assume the male role. Most smaller fish below 8 inches are female.
Fish Records - The largest giant sea Bass caught with a fishing rod weighed over 563 pounds. It was caught off the coast of California, August 20, 1968.
