5th AVENUE CANDY BAR

‘Crunchy Peanut Butter in a Rich, Chocolate Coating', the 5th Avenue candy bar was created by William H. Luden in 1936. Luden's company manufactured its own chocolate, which was unusual at the time.

The 5th Avenue bar was acquired by Hershey Foods in 1986.

Hershey's closed its candy manufacturing plant in Reading, Pennsylvania in February, 2009. The factory produced such classics as 5th Avenue bars and York Peppermint Patties. Production has been moved to a new factory in Monterey, Mexico.
