BROWNIES, APPLE BROWNIES

 

Fix-it And Enjoy-it Cookbook
by Phyllis Pellman Good

Makes 18-20 brownies
Prep Time: 20-25 minutes
Baking Time: 40-50 minutes

Ingredients
• 2 sticks (1 cup) butter, at room temperature
• 2 cups sugar
• 2 eggs, beaten
• 2 cups flour
• 1 tsp. baking powder
• 1 tsp. baking soda
• 2 tsp. cinnamon
• 3 cups apples, peeled and thinly sliced
• 1 cup chopped walnuts, optional


Directions
1.
In an electric mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar together.

2. Add eggs and mix well.

3. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon.

4. Stir into creamed mixture, mixing well.

5. Fold in apples and walnuts thoroughly. Batter will be stiff.

6. Spread in a greased 9 x 13 baking pan.

7. Bake 40-50 minutes at 350°, or until cake pulls away from pan.

8. Cool in pan, then cut into squares.
