Makes 12 servings
(Ideal slow cooker size: 4-quart)
12 cups cored, pared, thinly sliced, medium cooking apples
1/4 cup sugar
sugar substitute to equal 2 Tbsp.
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup water
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
freshly grated nutmeg, optional
1. Place apples in slow cooker.
2. Combine sugar, sugar substitute, and cinnamon. Mix with apples. Stir in water and lemon juice, and nutmeg, if desired.
3. Cover. Cook on Low 5-7 hours, or High 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 hours.
4. Stir for a chunky sauce. Serve hot or cold.
