FIG BARS

Makes 32 Servings

1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup packed brown sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups finely chopped dried figs


1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

2. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, lemon peel, and vanilla; beat well.

3. Stir together flour, baking powder, and salt; blend into creamed mixture. Stir in figs.

4. Pour into greased 13x9-inch baking pan. Bake for 25 minutes. Cool; cut into bars.
