CHOCOLATE-ICED SESAME BARS

The password for unlocking the flavor of this sesame cookie is chocolate!  Toasted sesame seed adds an unexpected nutty flavor to the rich, moist bars, giving traditional blondies a delicious makeover.

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Makes 32 (2x2 inch) squares

Ingredients:
3 tablespoons McCormick® Sesame Seed
3/4 cup butter
1 1/2 cups packed light brown sugar
3 eggs
2 teaspoons McCormick® Pure Vanilla Extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups (12 ounces) chocolate chips, divided

Directions:
Toast sesame seed over medium heat in small skillet until golden brown, stirring often. Remove from pan; set aside.  Preheat oven to 350°F.  Grease a 13x9-inch baking pan.

Melt butter; cool. Combine butter and brown sugar in large mixing bowl. Add eggs and vanilla; blend well. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; mix into butter mixture until just blended.  Stir in toasted sesame seed and 1 cup chocolate chips.  Spread into baking pan.  Bake 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

Melt remaining 1 cup chocolate chips.* Spread evenly over bars. Cool completely before cutting into bars.

*Tip:  Melt chocolate chips in the microwave 1 minute on high. Stir.  Continue to microwave for 10-20 seconds longer, if needed, to complete melting.  Stir until smooth.  After spreading topping on bars, refrigerate 20 minutes to set.
