ALMOND BREAKFAST BREADalmond bread

Bread Machine Recipe
Servings: One 2 lb. loaf – about 12 slices


Ingredients:

• 1 1/2 cups fat-free milk
• 4 cups bread flour
• 1 tablespoon gluten flour
• 1/4 cup almond paste (cut into small pieces)
• 2 tablespoons sugar
• 1 3/4 teaspoons salt
• 2 tablespoons margarine
• 1 tablespoon almond extract
• 2 teaspoons active dry yeast


Directions:
Add all the ingredients in the order listed into the bread pan. Follow the instructions for your machine. Let cool and then glaze, if desired.

Glaze
In medium bowl, mix 1 cup powdered sugar with 2 to 3 tablespoons milk and ½ teaspoon almond extract. Top with sliced almonds.

Be sure to use almond paste, not marzipan.

Nutrition:
Each serving provides approximately: 231 calories, 7 g protein, 39 g carbohydrates, 1 g fiber, 4 g fat (1 g saturated), 1 mg cholesterol, 2 mg iron, 379 mg sodium.
