CAPON
A capon is a young rooster that has been castrated. They have no sex drive, so they just want to eat and rest in the shade until they are 4 to 9 pounds and generally 10 - 20 weeks old. They are deliciously plump, and very tender.
Male chickens about 16 weeks (to 9 months old) which are surgically unsexed. They weigh about 4 to 9 pounds and have generous quantities of tender, light meat. Usually roasted.
As demonstrated in the above entries, modern, more efficient poultry raising techniques, especially in the U.S., have reduced the age at which all types of poultry are ready for market today. In areas where more traditional methods are used, the age will be closer to 9 months.
