Top:• 1/4 cup butter or margarine• 1/2 cup sugar• 2 (15.5-ounce) cans cherries, drainedCake Portion:• 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour• 1/2 cup sugar• 2 teaspoons baking powder• 1/2 teaspoon salt• 1 egg• 1/2 cup low-fat milk• 3 tablespoons butter or margarine, meltedTop:1. Melt the ¼ cup butter or margarine and spread in a 9-inch pan.2. Mix cherries with sugar and pour into pan.Cake Portion:1. Preheat oven to 400°F2. Mix together all ingredients and pour over cherries in the 9-inch pan.3. Bake 30 minutes.4. IMMEDIATELY after baking, invert and put on a serving plate.Food & Nutrition Service, USDA
