PRESERVES

Damson Preserve

Take 4 pound of sugar and 1 quart of water, boil and scum clean, the run thro’ a jelly bag, to which add one fresh orange cut fine, and half pint of brandy; to this syrrup put the damsons, let them do over a gentle fire 15 minutes; put away for use.

Cherries and Grapes may be preserved in the same way.
