JOY OF COOKING

(Irma Rombauer & Marion Becker)

Two cookbooks have had enormous impact on the American diet and American cooking, Fannie Farmer's Boston Cooking School Cookbook (1896) and Joy of Cooking (1931).

Joy of Cooking was written by Irma Starkloff Rombauer and her daughter Marion Rombauer Becker (who also illustrated the original edition).

It is a virtual encyclopedia of classic American and European recipes, with detailed and engaging explanations of techniques and preparations.

Joy of Cooking has sold over 8 million copies in at least 13 editions (2000).
