Held annually on Labour Day Monday (the second Monday in March), the festival has music, sheep dog demonstrations, antique engines and cars and lots of competitions--potato picking, carrying, loading, eating, peeling, tossing, and cookery contests. Thorndale supplies most of the potatoes for the east coast of Australia and also exports seed and table potatoes.
