ANCHO CHILI PEPPERS

Ancho Chili

Ancho Chilies: Dried or fresh poblano pepper. The dried peppers are flat, wrinkled, and heart shaped. They range in color from very dark red to almost black. Anchos are mild to moderately hot and often soaked and ground for use in sauces.

They have a mild fruity raisin-like flavor with hints of coffee and tobacco.

The ancho chili is the most common dried chili in Mexico, and it is one of the three important chili peppers (Ancho, Pasilla and Mulato) in traditional Mexican moles.

Ancho Chile Pepper is the dried, ground fruit of Capsicum annum. The product is made from poblano chile peppers grown in Mexico. Ancho has a mild paprika flavor, with sweet to moderate heat.
