Palm Tree

So tall and imposing
this beast of warm spaces.
It’s in the deep south
far east and west places.

Its fruit is a gem
used to sweeten and flavor
your drinks or your salad
or a dessert you may favor.

If you live in a land where
they thrive and dominate
don’t park underneath
if you fear your car’s fate.

The fruit is a big nut.
It’s weight is intense.
Leave your car just below it.
You’ll come back to find dents.

The tree arches and drapes
Oer the streets and the homes.
When prolific combined
With others it domes.

It shades from the sun
And fans in the wind.
You can weave with the frawns
Ashen forehead;blessed from sin.

Whether as food or as tree
So much you can do with this creature
Wherever it lives
It’s the dominant feature.
