Finally we end our festival with the most famous of all beer celebrations Oktoberfest where we will have authentic Oktoberfest style beer on tap and a great Oktoberfest Band to keep the polka's going till the wee hours.

October 12-31, 2019  Powtown Pumpkin Festival

Get ready for the first Powtown Pumpkin Festival in Powell River’s Historic Townsite.  Beginning October 12 and running for the entire month, you’ll find people holding court on lawns throughout the Townsite. Hockey players, brides, farmers, and movie stars looking decidedly familiar but sporting large orange pumpkin heads will be sitting, standing and even playing along Maple, Ash and Oak Avenues, at the Patricia Theatre and at Henderson House Museum.  “People are encouraged to display Powtown Pumpkin People on their lawns during October,” said Isabelle noting that Townsite is already the hot spot at Halloween. “Townsite residents already go all out at Halloween by decorating their homes. Some people reported handing out treats to 400 kids last year,” she added.

Salute to the Sockeye: Adams River Salmon Run

NEXT EVENT IN 2022.  Every 4th year during September & October, the banks of the Adams River becomes the scene of a natural miracle. The normally quiet waters of the 12 km river turn turbulent & crimson as over 2 million sockeye salmon - returning from a journey that takes them far out into the ocean - pour into their home waters to spawn & to die. Their arrival is welcomed by the "Salute to the Sockeye" a pageant which draws visitors to the Roderick Haig-Brown Provincial Park, a section of the river dedicated to the famous British Columbia fly fisherman, naturalist & author.
