FOR HOLIDAY GIFTING: New Rare-Aged Sherries From Spain's Williams & Humbert

 

Williams & Humbert, producer of top-selling Dry Sack, has three premium rare-aged sherries now available in the U.S. that make stylish and luxurious holiday gifts for the discerning wine and spirits aficionado: Dos Cortados Palo Cortado, Don Guido Pedro Ximénez and Jalifa Amontillado.  These fine sherries were traditionally reserved for privileged guests of the winery. In early 2009, Miami-based importer Kindred Sprits introduced them to the U.S.  They are classified as VOS (Very Old Sherry), aged a minimum of 20 years, and VORS (Very Old Rare Sherry) aged a minimum of 30 years. They have already received top ratings in the U.S. from leading wine and spirits magazines.

Dos CortadosDos Cortados Rare Old Palo Cortado Especial, aged for 20 years, has a warm golden color with a soft aroma of wood, vanilla, spices and nuts with a long, intense finish. Dos Cortados was awarded a Double Gold Medal from the Tasters Guild International Competition and 96 points by Wine & Spirits.

Don GuidoDon Guido Rare Old Sweet Solera Especial is a full-bodied Oloroso made from sun-dried Pedro Ximénez grapes. Aged a minimum of 20 years, Don Guido has a deep mahogany color, rich aroma of nuts and dried fruits and long, sweet finish. Don Guido received a Double Gold Medal from the Tasters Guild International.
Competition and 93 points by Wine & Spirits.
(18% alcohol by volume. Average retail price: $50).

1109a-jalifaJalifa Rare Old Amontillado Solera Especial undergoes a dual aging process, first as a fino for several  years and, subsequently, after being fortified with distilled grape spirits to boost the alcohol level, aged further with controlled air contact to achieve the desired level of oxidation. The result is an amber color with a distinct aroma of vanilla and nuts and a long, smooth finish. Jalifa received a Gold Medal from the Tasters Guild International Competition and 91 points by Wine & Spirits.
