SHORTCAKES AND PUDDINGS
STRAWBERRY CAKE Work 1/2 cup of butter and 2 of sugar to a cream. Add 4 eggs, well beaten, 1 cup of milk, 3 cups of flour, and 1 heaping teaspoonful of baking powder. Bake in flat pans, thicker than for jelly cake. Mash strawberries and sweeten them. Spread them thickly between the layers. Sift sugar over the top, and serve with or without cream.
