PORK AND BEANS
Remove the strings of 1/4 of a peck of beans, cut into pieces about 1 inch long, put them into a saucepan of boiling water; add 2 ounces of ham and boil gently 1 hour; drain, remove the ham, return the beans to the saucepan; add 1 ounce of butter, 1 gill of cream, and a palatable seasoning of salt and pepper.
