COPIA:
The following excerpt is from the New York Times, December 2, 2008:
“Copia, the ambitious, nonprofit, food, wine and art center in Napa, California, filed for bankruptcy protection in December of 2008.
The winemaker Robert Mondavi provided more than $20 million of the $55 million it took to open Copia in a grand building on the Napa River in 2001. With its organic gardens, outdoor kitchens, tasting rooms, restaurants and exhibition galleries, it was an instant showplace.
Copia, which closed on Nov. 21 and remains closed while a judge in United States Bankruptcy Court in Santa Rosa, Calif., considers its bankruptcy filings, is at risk of defaulting on a public bond of $70 million.”
