My Garden - May

May is the height of the planting season for northern gardeners. It always seems to go so fast! Most vegetable and flower bedding plants and seeds of warm weather lovers like squash, cucumbers, marigolds and zinnias are planted at this time.
We can begin to put out supports for vines and fast growing plants. Plant summer-flowering bulbs and tubers such as glads and cannas when the soil is thoroughly warm. By the end of the month, I set out most of my houseplants on the deck and patio.
