SHORTCAKES AND PUDDINGS
BISCUIT PUDDING Heat to the boiling point 1 quart of water, add a piece of butter the size of a hulled walnut, stir 1 heaping teaspoonful of flour with 2 tablespoonfuls of sugar, and half a grated nutmeg together with a pinch of salt; add to the water to make it smooth; cut cold soda biscuits in two or three slices, drop in, let boil up, and serve.
