DUMPLING & POT PIE RECIPES

SNITZ AND KNEP #4

Take 3 handfuls of dried sweet apples, soak in water 3 hours. Then add a lump of butter the size of a hen's egg. For the knep: Take a large teacupful of buttermilk, 2 eggs, 1 teaspoonful of soda, pinch of salt; thicken with flour until a little stiffer than cake batter. Boil in a porcelain kettle until thoroughly done.

Sister Joannah Mason, Clarksville, Iowa.
