RECIPES FOR PIES

CRUMB CAKE
 
 
 Sift together 1 quart of flour and 2 teaspoonfuls of baking powder, add 1 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of butter, rub well together. Have pie tins lined, with pie dough. Stir 2 tablespoonfuls of molasses into 1 cup of cold water, dip 2 tablespoonfuls of this on the crust, sprinkle on a layer of crumbs, alternating with the water until the tin is full. Bake till nicely brown.
