CAKES AND COOKIES

MAHOGANY CAKE
 
 
 Take 1 1/2 cups of sugar, 1/2 cup of butter, 1/2 cup of sweet milk or coffee, 2 cups of flour, 3 eggs, 1 teaspoonful of soda dissolved in the milk, 1 teaspoonful of baking powder, and 1/2 cup of chocolate in 1/2 cup of milk or coffee; cool and stir in last.

Filling: 1 1/2 cups of sugar cooked in 1/2 cup of milk; beat until cool.
