Tallgrass Beef

August, 2006

Bill Kurtis, award-winning broadcaster of A&E fame is touting the benefits of grass-fed beef.
(See interview with Bill Kurtis)

Tallgrass is raising cattle that roam freely in open pastures and eat lush, hearty, natural grasses. Our animals eat no grains, and are fed no unnatural supplements, growth hormones, or antibiotics.

The result is pure grass-fed beef that's good for you. Among the many health benefits of pure grass-fed beef, as opposed to grain-fed beef:

• As much as half less fat.

• At least twice the amounts of Omega-3 essential fatty acids. Omega-3's have been proven to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure. They have also been shown to reduce the risk of cancer, improve brain function, and reduce the risk of dementia.

• As much as five times the amount of CLA, a fat which is one of the most potent cancer preventers. CLA has also been proven to improve metabolism regulation and to help overweight people lose weight.

• Significantly higher levels of Vitamin E, an essential vitamin in which many Americans are deficient. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant.

Grass-fed beef supports an agricultural method that's sustainable and helps restore the prairie. By grazing on naturally occurring grasses, the animals help to promote the growth of indigenous grasses and add nutrients to the soil. And because they spend their lives in open pastures, they are never confined to stressful feedlots or unnatural environments.
